“If any man hear My words,” Jesus said, “and believe not, I judge him not.” You say, “Now wait a minute, you just said you came for judgment.

In addition to those factors, philosophers like Plato had even reasoned that there must be a creative being outside of creation that acted as a cause, laying a foundation stone for the Church to build upon.
He didn’t come merely to heal the sick or clothe the naked. Fourthly, look at John 12. He was born to die. They were so sanctimonious, such a great sense of piosity.

What does He want SINNERS to do? You’ve got to see you need the Great Physician. What was God up to?
We should WANT them to come to Christ in faith…for eternal life.
The result of it all, Zacchaeus says to the Lord – and here, you don’t have the story of his salvation, just the fruit of it, which proves that it happened, right? One of the strengths of Rome was that instead of obliterating the cultures it ruled, it took and Romanized them.
The purpose of the law was to show men they were hopeless, they were incapable, they were incompetent, they were sinful.
What I am going to say next will come as a shock to some, but here it is.
He came to reveal the Father.
You can eliminate every single thing Jesus ever said in His life about the poor and social justice, and still you will not undermine His main message one bit.
He came to seek the lost. So He came.
To save the lost. As severe as that may sound, this is precisely what one of Christ’s closest followers actually did.
Mark 10:45. As one has put it, “He remained free, uncontaminated, uncompromised.”13 Jesus never failed, obeying even to the death.
It was to frustrate him so that in desperation he fell before a holy God and pleaded for mercy. The Savior.
God has justified us.
We come now to a time of examining the Word of God, looking together at the Christmas story, at least from one viewpoint. This was our greatest need, because the coming of sin had brought death upon the whole human race, spiritual death, which is separation from God - look up Romans 5:12; Ephesians 2:1, and compare John 5:40. If we follow the course of salvation history, we see a process of God’s calling out to man, and man failing to accept that call. There’s a third statement of Jesus that I want you to notice in Matthew 5:17. And they said, “This is the way to get righteous, keep these rules.” In fact, in Romans 10, Paul says they go about trying to establish their own righteousness. He came that men might have life more abundant. .
And Christ comes to enlighten the mind to understand God and to enlighten the path that we walk righteously.

They had some things to say about stealing but nothing about coveting in your heart. In the Genesis story, we learn that God created mankind in his own image.
If I stand up and say - “you are a HORRIBLE sinner, and I am glad I AM NOT”... well I’ve just declared myself to be RIGHTEOUS... and I’ve placed myself in the “Righteous” category... And Jesus said - (READ VERSE)… “I have NOT come to call...”.
From that point forward, sin ran rampant, bringing with it murder, rape, idolatry, and every imaginable kind of depravity.

And they think, “Boy, this is something new.
That’s the human response to the will of God, you see.
How wonderful to have this assurance!
SO - The Pharisees needed to become SINNERS in their own minds!!!
He only helps people in the corner beating on their breast saying, “God, be merciful to me, a sinner.” He doesn’t help the guy standing up and saying, “I thank Thee that I’m not as other men are, and I give tithes of all that I possess.
And you just kept going over it and going – and finally you got it and you were free from the struggle to find the answer. And I thought that, for our study this morning, we’d look back at those statements and hear from the mouth of Jesus Himself why He came. In just a few weeks most of us will be hovering over a gastronomical feast preparing to eat much more than we should, appropriately celebrating the generosity of God towards us that is much more than we deserve. There, once and for all, Satan was defeated - look up Hebrews 2:14; Revelation 20:10.
Why is the issue. They’ve got so much information and it seems the more you get, the more frustrating it becomes. 1 Timothy 1:15, "This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief." And this we do find in the birth narratives, everywhere. he himself likewise partook of the same things [flesh and blood] . Jesus bound the strong man - look up Mark 3:27.
His holy and righteous nature demands this. As God pure and simple, he could not die for sinners. - look up Romans 16:20.
Now, this is an indirect point, but look with me at John 9:39.
10 “Do not fear those who kill the body…” (Matt. (Luke 19:10) I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Adam and Eve had been made in the likeness of, and created for everlasting union with, God. To the darkness of ignorance, He is the light of wisdom.
Just imagine announcing, “Now, next Tuesday night all sinners in Panorama City, please gather at Grace Community Church for a message on hell.” How many you think would be here? It clarifies the unbelievers, it unmasks them. It would never do in the long run, and it was not meant to. However, often their admiration of His civic virtue has distracted them from a more important matter.
They were right on the edge because Christ is speaking there about His leaving the earth and saying it’s going to be over pretty soon, the light’s going to be gone and you’re going to be in the darkness, and it wasn’t long that it was true, He was gone.
Finally, “What is the price He will pay?” Jesus will buy bodies by surrendering His own body. So, you see what happens.
Every one that is of the truth hears My voice.”, And Pilate cynically said to Him, “What is truth?” Like so many people in our world today, he had had it with trying to find truth. He said, “I didn’t come to do My own will; I came to do the will of Him that sent Me.” Jesus’ work was not human, it was divine.
This guy (confirmed for us in v9) believed HIMSELF to be - RIGHTEOUS!!

Understand - Jesus Christ is the decisive blow, His judgment is FINAL - you either end up on ONE side or the OTHER, humbly submitting to Him - resulting in your exaltation to LIFE, resulting in you BEING humbled by your eternal damnation. Lastly, Jesus was born to serve the will of God, speak the truth of God, sum up the law of God, shed the light of God, save the lost for God, and serve the judgment of God – and finally, to pay the ransom to God. So, Jesus came to earth to save sinners. He had an appointment with Zacchaeus. And only a man who was more than a man could ever pay for the sins of multitudes. Consider for a moment that under Roman rule, a good portion of the Middle East, North African, and European regions were all connected under the same monetary, military, and linguistic systems. He came to save the world but when people reject Him, they bring judgment on themselves, and so in effect He’s working out the judgment of God.
He came to do that and much more. I don’t know how much time we have now. We can see that we are saved - By Faith Alone in Christ Alone…, NOW - part of this SAVING Faith - is repentance. Another question: Who would “the righteous” be? There are two main lines of evidence for the fact of our Lord’s birth, life, ministry, death, resurrection, ascension and exaltation: This verse reads - “you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. Let me tell you something, folks. Well, the same thing is true morally.
To them, He says, belongs the Kingdom of Heaven. There was no one like Him.
Oh, yes. But it is at the heart of our faith — and what the Bible teaches. And Pilate, finally, in that situation, at least in his own life, said, “What is truth?
